Focus Question: How did African Americans lives change during the 1920's?
Thesis: During the 1920's, African Americans were able to gain more independence and freedom which allowed them to be more accepted in society.

African Americans lives changes in many positive ways during the 1920's. During the Harlem Renaissance, African Americans gained more freedom and racial pride. Through the Great Migration, African Americans got a chance to escape harsh racial segregation laws and gained new job opportunities. The NAACP helped unite African Americans, disband the KKK and establish a sense of pride. With the help of Marcus Garvey, African Americans had a voice and with the help of the Jazz Age, they obtained roles of importance in society. During the 1920's many important events occurred that helped African Americans receive equality, acceptance and overall change their lives.
